We only see patients who do not have other options for health care. Most of them are at or below the World Bank’s 1.50 (US) a day poverty line. In Cambodia, even middle class people do not have insurance or government programs. Often they drop down below the poverty line when they or a family member become ill, and they have to sell their only property (a cow or a moto) in order to pay doctors.
Many of our patients are so amazed that they are treated with love and respect, they go back to their villages sharing about the love of Christ. One of our patients did so, and now 2 years later, there are 6 Bible study groups in or near her village as a result!
